Session One: Physical Observation
Obstacle Challenge: CAT vs DOG
This video is the perfect entry point. It features repetitive actions (jumping, running, hitting) which allow students to practice the same sentence structures with different subjects. The clear contrast between the cat’s precision and the dog’s chaos provides an immediate reason for the student to speak.
Discussion Guide
- What color is the cat? (Goal: Color identification)
- Is the dog careful? (Goal: Adjective usage)
- What does the dog hit? (Goal: Naming objects like "cups")
- Who is the winner? (Goal: Simple preference)
- Does the cat jump high? (Goal: Present simple "Yes/No" questions)
Coach Recommendation:
Use the "Stop and Describe" technique. Pause the video after every single obstacle. Ask the student to describe the action before you play the next segment. This forces the student to produce at least 10 different sentences in a single 2-minute video.
